Days In Bath

Hey there!

I know this blog is a bit late and I’m sorry but I hope that as long as there is at least one blog a week you won’t mind!

Recently I have been spending A LOT in time in Bath. Which is great because I absolutely love it there and I live quite close to it. We have spent a lot of time roaming the streets, going in all the lovely shops and having coffee and cake! It has been so fun and the atmosphere there is great. I love hearing all the foreign languages, excited tourists and seeing the grand buildings (and its even better when the sun is shining!).

The main reason why we have been in Bath so much recently is because there is this amazing little homeware shop that we have been going to. My mum and dad are re-doing their room and there is so much great stuff in there. The first time I went was just with my dad and we spotted a bed, the next time was when we took my mum to see the bed and bought it (along with a load of other stuff) and the third was to exchange something. We also went in lots of other shops too!

The shop is called Brissi and is on Milsom street. It is done out like a Georgian house and is in all French greys. It sells smaller and biger homewhere things – whether that is beds or paintings or throws or fake flowers. I would really recommend you going in if your in Bath – if your looking for new stuff for your house or not (I loved looking at it all and dreaming about having everything in there!).

The third time I went into Bath was with my mum and we didn’t spend that much time in Brissi. Instead, we spent most our time shopping and browsing in all the other shops. I mostly bought some fake plants for my room but I also bought a really beautiful notebook from Paperchase and a nice tea light holder from Anthropology.

Here are some pictures of my time there and what I bought:

I hope you enjoyed reading about my recent trips to bath! If you are ever in the area make sure you spend a bit of time there as it is great.

See you next Friday!

A Belated Birthday

Hey guys!

Its my birthday!

Well… not technically!!

My birthday was actually about a month ago now. However, I really wanted to write about it as a birthday only comes around once a year, it is a special occasion and this year it was really great! I know it was ages ago and I would have wrote sooner but as part of my re-launch I wanted to keep it for now!

So, here we go…

My birthday celebrations began about two days before my birthday. Every year we have this tradition with my Aunt where she takes me out for tea and then we go shopping. For the past few years we have been going to Coal! For those of you that don’t know what it is, it is a restaurant that does just about anything! Tex-mex, burgers, pizza, pasta, salads. Pretty much, you name it, they have it! I’m not sure weather it is a chain or of it is only in Bristol but I love it there!!

Anyway… Every time we go their we have mocktails (they’re AMAZING!!) and I have a chimichanga (again AMAZING!!). Desert was also delicious! After the meal I was given some birthday money and we went shopping. We didn’t have too long as the shops were beginning to close but it was still really fun. We went to boots and spent ages having a good look through all the makeup (something I haven’t done in ages) and then we popped in a couple of other shops before they were all closed.

It was so fun! Every year it is one of the highlights of my birthday, we just talk, laugh, shop and eat delicious food!!

On Saturday night I went to Zero Degrees in town. I had never been there before but it was really nice. The food, how it was decorated and the atmosphere in there was great. We started off in the bar and had mocktails – again! – and then ate. Lots of my family were there and we had a great time!

On the Sunday, my actual birthday, we opened presents in the morning, had a nice breakfast and then went out shopping with my Mum, Dad and Sisters. We mostly went clothes shopping but we also popped into a few others. In the middle of the shopping trip we stopped off at Soho for lunch and headed back around five.

In the evening we had a birthday tea with my mums side of the family.

The following Saturday we had a pizza evening with my extended family where we ordered dominos, played music and laughed (a lot!).

With my friends I went to Swindon Oasis – a massive indoor swimming pool with a wave machine and slides. It is amazing! After we went to Giraffe to have some lunch and it was DELICIOUS! I had a burger – which normally I don’t like – but it was so good! We then went shopping for a bit in the outlet after. The whole day was really fun!

That was everything we did for my birthday.

I know! We did ALOT!

For my present I mostly got money and vouchers along with a few other knickknacks.

I really really loved my birthday. I loved everything I got, everything I did, and everyone I got to spend it with. I’m so happy that at one time or another I got to celebrate my birthday with everyone and did something special with them all!

So that’s it now for another year. Birthday over!

Thanks for reading. I’m not sure whether this was at all interesting for you but I really wanted to write it so I could document it and share it as it was such a great birthday.

I would love to know what you got up to on your last birthday – comment down below letting me know!

Bye xx

The Re-Launch

Hey there,

It has been AGES since I last wrote here!

…and that is kind of what this is about. It is just under a year ago now that I started this blog and I have only wrote about five. I was fine with this but now I want to do it properly. I want to blog regularly with good content that I’m really interested in. I’m going to be putting lots of effort into it and making it more of a full-time hobby (instead of something I like doing every now and then).

This is how it’s going to work.

Every Friday evening I will be uploading a new blog. It will be about a variety of subjects I’m interested in. Also I’m going to try to make them a bit shorter. After recently looking over my past blogs I realise how long they are and that they could probably bore people with the length of them (I know it would probably bore me!!!).

That’s all I really wanted to say. Just to let you know what will be going on. The first blog of my re-launch will be up next Friday.

See you then!

Bye xx

Millionaires Cupcakes

I have been meaning to do a blog like this for a while and a baking blog was actually suggested by someone in the comments. These cupcakes are delicious! Everyone in my family loved them and they were gone very quickly. They are chocolate cupcakes with the middles scooped out and salted caramel sause and short bread in the middle of them. Over the top of the cupcakes I did a caramel butter icing and sprinkled it with shortbread.

Can please just mention that I have never wrote a blog in a recipe style before so I am very sorry if it is not how you like to read recipes or if I am doing things wrong. Please feel free to leave any suggestions for how I can improve this style of blog in the comments as I do love cooking and want to do more blogs like this. Also, I am not a baking expert in any way shape or form so I may not have done things in exactly the right way. This is just the way that I made my cakes and some tips for some of you that have no clue abut baking.

Total Time:

To be honest – and I know this isn’t helpful at all – but I have know idea how long it took to prepare and decorate the cupcakes. I spent most of the day on them, however I could have finished them much quicker but I wanted to really take my time on them – leaving every thing to completely cool and not rush.

Makes: 12

Chocolate cake:

  • 6 oz butter
  • 6 oz caster sugar
  • 6 oz flour
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 1 oz cocoa powder

Caramel Butter Icing:

  • 300g hard/soft butter
  • 300g icing sugar
  • 300g salted caramel (you can click here to find out how to make your own or buy some from a shop like I did!)

Hidden centre

  • 4 shortbread biscuits (again feel free to make your own but I used shop bought ones!)
  • 4 tbsp. of salted caramel sauce (1 tsp per cupcake)

For the cupcakes –

  1. The first step is to preheat your oven to 190 degrees celcius.
  2.  Grab a large mixing bowl and add the butter. Whip it up until it is soft and cream like. Then add the sugar. Mix well until the mixture is fluffy and light.
  3. Add in the eggs and mix well as this is the time to combine the mixture and get all the air into it because you don’t want to over beet it when the flour is in as your cupcakes will not be as light and fluffy.
  4. Add the flour and mix it until it is incorporated – once the ingredients are mixed in do not mix any more.
  5. Add in the coco powder and do exactly as you did with the flour.
  6. With your cupcake tin, place the cupcake cases in each space. I find it easier to double up cupcake cases as it makes the case stronger and they to keep their shape better when the mixture is in them.
  7. Add your mixture to each cupcake case. Start with adding small amounts into each one and build it up so you keep the amounts in each one even and know there is enough mixture left for all your cakes.
  8. Put them in the oven for 15 minuets to start with, however they will need much more time but I find that easier to judge that at the time. Everyones oven is different and will cook differently so if you feel they need longer then keep them in for longer. Make sure they are not raw by putting a knife/squewer through them and if there is no mixture it when it comes out then you know they are done. I would normally put them in for another 5 minuets or so (it varies all the time!)
  9. leave your cakes to cool completely. They have to be completely cool before you can do anything with them. To help them cool quicker take them out of the tray and place them on a cooling rack (I know its obvious but you never know! – my sister normally leaves them in the tin!). You can put them by on open window too and they will cool much quicker.
  10. Whilst your cakes are cooling you can start preparing your hidden centre and butter icing.
  11. For the hidden centre your shortbread needs to be crushed. You can use a pestle and mortar or a rolling pin to do this. Then put it to one side.

Caramel Butter Icing –

  1. Put all the ingredients for the butter icing into a large bowl and mix until it is a smooth mixture and fully combined. You may have been confused why I put hard/soft butter – I used soft butter when making these however that meant that the icing was very sloppy and it couldn’t be piped on neatly. I put it in the fridge to stiffen it and it did work well however that is very time consuming. If you used hard butter then you would not have to put it in the fridge.
  2. If you have made your butter icing with soft butter then spoon it into your piping bag (you do not have to pipe) and then put it in the fridge for 20-30 mins. If you used hard butter miss out this step.
  3. After you have prepared everything else check if your cakes are cool. If they are you can move on but if not then wait until they are cool.

Hidden centre –

  1. Once your cakes are cool then spoon out the centre. I know that sounds scary and difficult but it really isn’t. Just, with a teaspoon, scoop out a hole in the centre. You do not need the cake you scoop out so you can either eat it or throw it away (I ate mine! He he!)
  2. Put a tea spoon on salted caramel into the centre of each cupcake. Then sprinkle shortbread into each one. Like with the  cake mixture, start small and add more so you know you have enough. Save some to sprinkle on top of your finished cakes.

Finishing off your cupcakes –

  1. Now pipe (again you do not have to – I just think it looks better piped!) your butter icing on top of each cake. Be careful not to do too much on one cake and not have enough for the others (whoops! I may or may not have done that!)
  2. Sprinkle some of the shortbread on top, just for decoration, and I also dusted some coco powder on the top to make it look pretty!
  3. Hey presto you have your finished cake! Now you can enjoy eating them!

There you have it! Millionaires cupcakes!

I actually saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it was different and fun and I just had to make them!  The link on Pinterest led to Charlotte’s Lively Kitchen and there is a similar recipe over there to also make these!

Feel free to adapt this recipe to suite you! If you have a way that works for you to make cakes then ignore mine and use yours.

I really hope you enjoyed this blog and have a go at making these delicious treats! If you do make them then tweet me a picture of them – I would love to see! I am simply – EmmeryBlogs – on twitter!

Will blog again soon,

Bye! xxx

Hello, Autumn!

Hey there again!

The last time I blogged I said that I was going to try to blog a bit more often. Now I know it doesn’t really seem like that but, and I really don’t want to seem like I am making excuses, I did I have a blog ready and I had finished writing it and I had edited it but something about it I really didn’t like. And so I didn’t publish it. It was called “My Summer Wardrobe”, now I do not know if that would have been something you would have been interested in but if so let me know! If you are interested then I could do something along those lines. Obviously I couldn’t do that exact post as it is no longer summer but let me know…

That sort of brings me on to what my blog post today is about. If you read my first ever blog post, “10 things I couldn’t live with out”, then you will know that one of those things was seasons. This blog will probably be very chatty random and I am not too sure where it is going to go – unlike my other two blogs where I have just listed things. So here it goes…

As I have already told you, I love the changing seasons! And I love them all for different reasons. And for some reason this year I am more excited for autumn than EVER! I don’t mean to wish away summer. And I know that many of you reading may be screaming at me through your computer screens, thinking that I am crazy and want summer to be over. That I am wanting the grey, drizzly British Autumn and Winter to begin but I am sorry I do love Autumn.

I know why I love Autumn but what I don’t know why I am so excited for it more this year than any other year before. Earlier in the summer I went abroad on holiday and the weather was gorgeous every single day. When we came back it was cold, blowing a gale and pouring down with torrential rain. Every one in my family was really sad that this is what we came home to and was very sad to see the sun go. But I was loving it. I found the bad weather really cosy and I was happy to see the first sign of autumn.

I know in my blog post the thing about autumn that I said I loved was the fashion but looking back that is only the tiniest part of it. What I love more than anything about Autumn is the cosiness of it. You can light candles, turn on cute fairy lights snuggle up in warm blankets and a pamper evening is so much more cosier in autumn. I know you can still do all those things in Summer but you don’t have the same feeling.

Another thing I love about it, is how atmospheric it feels. I guess this is also the same as it being cosy but I think an autumn night has something special about it.

I also love the crisp air – especially in the evening. The smell of the cold air and the feel of it, I think is very atmospheric and exciting.

Please don’t think that I now hate summer. I do still love the warm and the sun and the possibilities they give you. You can have such a great time when the weather is great. I get very excited when the seasons change and I just love it.

I hope you didn’t mind this blog post as I know it is a bit different and much, much shorter. Maybe you prefer this style and the blogs being a bit shorter.

I don’t know!

Let me know what you think! And also let me know if you think I am mad for being so excited for autumn!

Please subscribe if you have enjoyed this blog, and give it a thumbs up!

I look forward to blogging again soon!

Lots of love,

My school ware Essentials

Hey there again!

First of all I have to say thank you! My last blog got so much recognition I really can’t believe it. So thank you so, so, so much! Second I have to say that I am so sorry that I haven’t blogged in ages! My life at the moment has been quite busy and I just haven’t been able to find the time! And I know that I am just making excuses but I am really sorry!

Today my blog is about my school ware essentials, basically I am going to talk you through (or write you through??!!) what my must haves for school are.

So here we go…

My School Ware Essentials

  1. Good stationary

I find having good stationary really nice. If everything is really pretty then it motivates me to try and keep my books neater. It is also just quite nice to have.

2. Nice coloured pens and pencils

I know this fits in with stationary, but lovely pens are definitely one of my essentials. This is because many times, at school, when we have been told to make a poster or use colour, I have struggled (at least to make it look really pretty)! Colours at school are normally not that good, running out or limited – where as if you have your own you can make sure that everything is how you want it.

3. An Umbrella

Even if you don’t walk to school an umbrella is definitely a must have. You could get dropped off at school but there is still the walk into school and countless times I have been caught out and got drenched. Literally, whenever I have an umbrella it never rains and when I don’t – it does. I would also suggest investing in a good umbrella as if you don’t I find they break really easily.

4. A nice backpack/handbag

I think that what I mean by a ‘nice backpack/handbag’ is the style and quality of it. I do normally go for a more expensive and better quality bag at the start of the year as it has to last me the whole year and you have to take it around with you the whole year. I feel it is important to find a good bag and one you love and so I do sometimes spend a bit more on my school bag than I would any other bag. I do feel it pays off.

5. A nice pencil case

Just like school bags, the pencil cases I get at the start of the year normally is for the whole year. I get one that I really love and that I think is really good quality. Normally, I get two – one for pencils, pens, rulers, rubbers etc… and one for coloured pens and pencils. I absolutely love Paperchase. And even more I love their pencil cases. I think that they are really cute and great quality and definitely last me the whole year.

So there are my ‘schoolware’ essentials.

I hope that you have enjoyed this blog and it has given you some tips for the start of the year!

Again I apologize that I have left it so long and I will try to not leave it that long again. The thing is with this blog is that I don’t want it to be something that I have to do. Just when I want to blog, I will – a hobby.

Thank you very much for reading! I hope you enjoyed it and I will blog again soon!

Lots of Love,

10 Things I Couldn’t Live Without

Hey there!!!

Welcome to my first, ever blog!

Can you believe it? MY FIRST EVER BLOG!!

I am so excited to be writing this. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time now and I never though it would actually happen. But it has and I am so happy about it.

So you may be wondering why I have started blogging?

If not then I suggest that you scroll down and skip this bit because I do ramble on a lot!!

Well, for years I have been trying to write a diary. Just writing down my thoughts and how my day had gone. Normally it only lasted me a couple of weeks and then I gave up on it – I think longest time I actually managed one for was 3 months. At the time I was quite impressed with myself but now I realise how bad it actually is. I think the reason I never kept it going was that I found it boring. I wanted to keep a record of my life but not one that was just:

“Today I got up ate my breakfast and went to school. When I got back – I watched TV, ate my tea and went to bed”

Pretty bad right?

Another thing that I wasn’t liking about writing a diary was the lack of communication. I didn’t see the point of writing to a piece paper telling them how I felt or what I did in that day. So for a couple of years, I haven’t even seen a diary and instead I have been watching YouTube videos. This has then recently inspired me to do something else. Vlog! So I started to record my day on a camera when I started feeling really self conscious (even around my family). I don’t really know why. I guess I didn’t want people looking at me thinking:

“Look over there at that girl trying to be like a proper YouTuber!”

I realised that Vlogging, at the moment, isn’t the best thing for me to be doing in my spare time.

So then I was back to sqare one.

I was really trying to think about away that people could see or read about what I have to say.

And funnily enough I thought about blogging!!

I have no idea what direction it will go.

They could be about my day, cooking, tips, they could be blogs like this where I tell bits about myself, they could even move into beauty.

I expect overtime I will figure what you guys like and what I blog about best!

I also have no idea how popular it will get.

No one may ever read it or it may get hundreds, even thousands of readers!

It will probably be the first option but who knows?

I just like to know that someone, somewhere can read what I have to say.

So here we are. This is my first ever blog and that was how I got here!

I’m really sorry I have been rambling on (it was probably a bit boring). I just wanted to explain why I have started EmmeryBlogs.

Just before I start what this blog is actually meant to be about, I thought I should tell you that this blog will be anominous. Mabey one day I will tell you who I am but at the moment my identity will remain a secret.

So finally I will move on to what this blog actually is meant to be about!

10 Things I Couldn’t Live Without

I thought that for a fist blog this would be a good idea as it tells you a bit about who I am as a person.  I am also going to not put practical one (things that we physically couldn’t live with out)! I really hope you enjoy it!

  1. Good Food

The first and foremost thing that I could never live without has to be good food. I know that know one could live with out food but GOOD food is what I’m on about. I could eat and eat and eat. One of my favourite foods has to be chocolate! Who couldn’t live without chocolate?!

  2. My camera

I love taking pictures. I love how one tiny contraption can save a memory forever. Relive a great time over and over again. Even though I love pictures so much, I feel like I don’t take enough. I wish that I remembered when we’re out to take a picture more often. But never the less, without cameras we wouldn’t be able to relive our favourite moments in life!

  3.  Traveling

Another thing I love to do, and that I am very fortunate to do, is travel! I have been to lots of places but there is still many places that I would love to visit. Not only do I love getting away, I love being in the sun and eating ice creams everyday! – I find being able to see for yourself the different countries on the world amazing.

  4. Fairy Lights

I absolutely adore fairy lights. I find them so magical and calming. Many things can make a room cosy but fairy lights definitely do it the best. They make every room 10 times more cosy! My room is full of them and if it were up to me – my house would be too!

  5. Pretty Little Liars

I was debating weather to put TV for this one instead, but I realised that I could live with out TV – I can actually go weeks without even thinking about it. Probably, because on actual TV, I don’t have something that I ‘religiously watch’! Although,  one program that I do watch and definitely couldn’t live without, is Pretty Little Liars. I love, love, love that program! I have no idea how I will cope when it stops for good!!

  6. Fashion/style

I think that lots of you won’t agree with me on this, but I don’t think I could live without it. And I don’t mean that I couldn’t live without knowing what’s ‘in‘! I mean everyone having their own style – originality. That’s how fashions start after all – someone wears something unique and others follow. The word ‘fashion‘ is a very broad subject, which is why I said style as well. I love that every one has their own style. I also love piecing outfits together. Thinking about what looks good with what.

  7. Seasons

The thing I like about seasons is that something new comes with each one. I love each and every season in their own way! I really like winter because it’s Christmas and it’s snowy, also it’s my birthday. I love spring because it starts to warm up, the sun comes out and it’s a glimpse of summer – I find that very exciting! I am fond of the summer because it’s warm and we normally go on holiday during then. And I also love autumn because I feel like fashion is at it’s highest there – in winter you just throw a coat over every thing, summer you just chuck one thing on and you’re done and spring is just a halfway point between them. In autumn though you can layer and you have jumpers, boots and scarves. Much more thought goes into an outfit. I also love the crisp air and the pretty trees in autumn.

  8. Christmas

I don’t think that this needs much explaining. Everyone loves Christmas! I have never met a person that doesn’t like Christmas and if I did, I would probably not talk to them again. I love the smell of trees, the giving presents, the lead up, the decorations………….. You name it, I love it!

  9. Music

For me, music is one of my favourite things. I love to dance to it and I love to sing along to it  – even though I am seriously bad at singing (and I am not just saying that). I keep up to date with it and try to listen to the charts every week.

  10. A Bath

I love a bath. They are so relaxing. I put in my bubble bath or bubble bars, bath bombs and bath salts and just lie there. And I’m not sure weather this is a normal thing to do or not – but I read my book in the bath. Reading normally relaxes me anyway and in a bath, it just makes it so much more enjoyable. All of my bath products come from LUSH – I love lush and if this was a 20 things I couldn’t live with out list, LUSH would be on there!

So there we go. My 10 things I couldn’t live with out. I know this blog has been incredibly long – they won’t be this long again but I really hope you enjoyed it!

I know that lots of you reading this, have probably read Girl Online and from reading my blog probably think that I am just copying it. But honestly I’m not. That’s part of the reason I created this blog – to be completely honest and that is from the heart. I guess Girl Online was one of the many things that inspired me to start this up, but I am not copying it. Every thing I have said is completely truthful.

Please leave a comment. Tell what sort of things you would like me to blog about and if you enjoyed this blog. I would also love to know what you couldn’t live without!

Thank you so much for reading and I will blog again soon.
